Friday, September 1st, 2017 Italian TV Company broadcasted Codice – “La Vita è digitale” su RAIUNO with an episode on Digital Humanities.
The episode, hosted by Barbara Carfagna, gave ample space to Centrica and VirtuItaly’s products and technologies, in particularUffizi Virtual Experience, the first immersive, interactive digital exhibition dedicated to the art collection of the Uffizi Gallery, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Heritage and Tourism, and of the Florence and Milan Town Councils.
The unveiling of the product took place at Fabbrica del Vapore, at the beginning of 2016: more than eleven hundred works of art digitised in very high resolution, with advanced technologies and interactive systems for a learning and entertaining experience.

VirtuItaly won the award CNA Changes 2016, Toscana edition, promoted by the National Confederation of Craftsmanship and Small and Medium Business, dedicated to the new companies based in Italy that achieved to innovate products and processes through their activity, with the ambition to represent our country at its best. Thanks to the immersive & interactive virtual exhibition Uffizi Virtual Experience, VirtuItaly was recognized winner for the category “Start-ups for the promotion of Italy”, conceived for the new companies that achieve products and services of cultural and creative development in support of the promotion of historical, artistic, landscape and food heritage and valorization of the traditions and culture of a territory. During the ceremony of yesterday November 8th 2016, the startup received a voucher valued 1000€ in consultation services for the company’s growth, and ultimately the possibility to present its project to the jury during the national final.
Marco Cappellini presented the digital exhibition Uffizi Virtual Experience and the activity of VirtuItaly to the microphones of Radio 24, one of the most important talk radios in Italy, interviewed by Enrico Pagliarini at SMAU Berlin 2016 on June 17th. You can listen to the podcast here.
A proposal to valorize the historic centre of Pistoia for the city’s year as European Capital of Culture 2017 through the digital technologies of VirtuItaly and its new approach to edutainment. It’s the content of the interview of Marco Cappellini at TVL, interviewed by the Director Luigi Bardelli in the television program Canto al Balì, a weekly program dedicated to the problems of the city of Pistoia.
On June 16th in Berlin will take place SMAU Berlin, the two-days event dedicated to innovation and professional update in the ICT field. It will be an opportunity to meet stakeholders and network with other companies that act in the German digital ecosystem.
Centrica and VirtuItaly will be at the event with a stand dedicated to last year’s activities and in particular to Uffizi Virtual Experience, the digital exhibition realized in Milan in January 2016 and now ready for next exhibition.
With a pitch addressed to an audience of professionals of the field, Ing. Marco Cappellini will tell this experience and will make a short demonstration of the technology used in this project.
VirtuItaly and Centrica will participate to Major Cities of Europe Florence 2016 – Renaissance in the Digital Age, the conference dedicated to innovation and smart cities that will be in Florence from May 31st to June 1st 2016.
Organized by the City of Florence and the association Major Cities of Europe, of which Firenze is part, the 2016 international conference will take place in the cradle of Renaissance in Convitto della Calza. This exclusive location will host conferences, workshops, seminars and roundtables in which will be involved delegates from the most important cities of Europe.
It will be an opportunity to share the experiences of Florence with other cities like Barcelona, Lyon, Wien, Hamburg, Copenaghen.
Different points of view will be compared: in particular, on what Florence, leading city 2015-2020 in the European project Horizon 2020, and its territory are doing to promote simpler digital services and more sustainable tools to live, discover and work in Florence, in Tuscany and in Italy, and on what other cities in Europe are doing in this field.
In this context, we will present the last experiences and products of Centrica-VirtuItaly with a corner dedicated to Uffizi Virtual Experience, where the interactive area of the exhibition will be recreated to allow visitors to experiment Uffizi Touch Cloud technology.
Uffizi Virtual Experience will be presented to the audience of Major Cities of Europe also in a session dedicated to companies and startups in the field of ICT, that will be on Tuesday May 31st at 3 PM.
Centrica and VirtuItaly will participate to ACE Creative at Futur en Seine 2016, the international event dedicated to innovation at 360° that will take place at Village des Innovations in Paris on June 9th and 10th.
Digital technologies, smart cities, artificial intelligence, augmented reality are only a few of the topics that will be discussed.
Particular attention will be given to startups, with a dedicated space where In. Marco Cappellini will present the recent experience of Uffizi Virtual Experience to an audience of professionals and investors.
The 2016 edition of EVA Florence – Electronic Imaging & Visual Art, the forum organized by the Centre for the Communication and Media Integration of the University of Florence in collaboration with the Department of Information Engineering and Centrica, will take place on Wednesday May 11th and Thursday May 12th at Hotel Pierre in Florence.
The key aim of this Event is to provide a forum for the user, supplier and scientific research communities to meet and exchange experiences, ideas and plans. Participants receive up to date news on new EC and international arts computing & telecomms initiatives as well as on Projects in the visual arts field, in archaeology and history. Working Groups and new Projects are promoted.
Together with Centrica, VirtuItaly will participate to the workshop “Strategic issues”on Wednesday May 11th at 15.30 (Room A), with a speech titled “Uffizi Virtual Experience. From Giotto to Caravaggio”, with the aim to introduce the project of cultural heritage valorization through the digital exhibition held from January 22nd to March 13th in Milan.
On Thursday May 12th from 10 AM to 5 PM, will follow an exhibition of the most recent technologies developed by Centrica and the future project of the company.

VirtuItaly will participate to the festival “ExpoPixel – Rethink the digital environment”, that will be in Bologna on Thursday May 5th 2016.
Marco Cappellini, CEO of VirtuItaly, will participate to the workshop titled “Cultural Heritage: multimedia” with a speech dedicated to the digital exhibition Uffizi Virtual Experience, produced with the startup VirtuItaly, and the enabling technology Uffizi Touch®, at the basis of the interactive area of the exhibition, Uffizi Virtual Experience is the first experience of immersive and interactive digital exhibition produced in Italy to valorize the cultural heritage in a spectacular and emotional way.
The guiding theme of ExpoPixel 2016 edition is “Rethink the digital environment”, a reflection on the ambient where we live to discuss about the most interesting news in the digital field, such as education, business 2.0, urban development strategies, 3D animations and virtual reality for museums.
Organized to the side of the Future Film Festival in partnership with Golinelli Foundation, a private foundation interested in the ensemble of art, education and technology, the event will take place on Thursday May 5th 2016 at 12.00 at Opificio Golinelli, Bologna’s new district of knowledge and culture.
Centrica and VirtuItaly will be at Restauro, the Fair of Conservation, technology and promotion of cultural and environmental heritage in Ferrara next wednesday April 6th 2016. Marco Cappellini, CEO of Centrica-VirtuItaly, will participate to the workshop Re-thinking the museum. Communication and digital strategies for innovative management and teaching with a speech titled Uffizi Virtual Experience: a digital exhibition to valorize cultural heritage outside museums.
Organized by the Humanities Department of the University of Ferrara and TekneHub, Technology Centre in the High Technology Network of Regione Emilia Romagna, the workshop will be introduced by Francesca Cappelletti, Humanities Department/Teknehub, University of Ferrara (h 14.30, Sala Marfisa).

This is the dea that drives the workshop. A serie of talks will follow through, combining the enthusiasm for the scientific research of the curatorial staff and the outcomes of an attentive view on reality, able to draft an exact profile of the current users and the relation between museum supply and demand. In this context, Marco Cappellini will present the experience of the digital exhibition Uffizi Virtual Experience, produced with the startup VirtuItaly, and the enabling technology Uffizi Touch®, at the basis of the interactive area of the exhibition.
